The multi-disciplinary approach and 3D computations of Delft3D has been largely applied to model flows and sediment transport in river, coastal and estuarine environments. In this project, a further step is given to study the behaviour of submarine sediment-laden flows in oceanic deep waters. Besides on the structure of the flows, the project focuses on the interaction between these density flows and the seabed, and on the changes that flows infer on the bathymetry. The project aims to enhance our understanding of the inter-relations among flow, deposits and bathymetry variation in deep waters through a combined analysis of results from Delft3D models, experimental works and data collected in the field.
